About
Pacifica Graduate Institute, nestled between the foothills and the Pacific coast in Santa Barbara, California, is internationally renowned for its pioneering focus on depth psychology, mythological studies, and the humanities. The private graduate institution is anchored by its flagship programs in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, and Depth Psychology, which draw heavily from the transformative traditions of Carl Jung, Sigmund Freud, and Joseph Campbell. Campus culture is intellectually intimate, non-traditional, and deeply reflective, bringing together a cohort of mature, self-directed learners who typically study in a low-residency, retreat-style format that blends intensive on-campus seminars with distance learning. A defining characteristic of Pacifica is its stewardship of the Joseph Campbell and Marija Gimbutas Library, which makes its tranquil, retreat-like campuses a global epicenter for archetypal and mythological research.
