About

Eckerd College is a private liberal arts institution situated on a 188-acre waterfront campus along Boca Ciega Bay, renowned nationally for its premier undergraduate programs in marine science, environmental studies, and international relations. The academic structure features an innovative 4-1-4 calendar with an immersive three-week Winter Term dedicated to focused projects or global study, as well as the nation’s only student-run collegiate marine search and rescue team (EC-SAR). Campus life is distinctly relaxed, outdoorsy, and collaborative, celebrated for its vibrant waterfront recreation, strong environmental stewardship, and famously pet-friendly policy that welcomes companion animals into residence halls.
