About
Located in Chitrakoot, India, Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakut Gramoday University is widely recognized for its pioneering academic focus on rural development, indigenous knowledge systems, and sustainable village-level technologies. The university's strongest faculties include rural management, social work, agriculture, and traditional Indian studies, all designed to address grassroots socio-economic challenges. For international students, the campus offers a deeply immersive educational environment centered on community-based learning and field research, though most programs are conducted in Hindi and regional languages rather than English. A dedicated international affairs cell assists incoming foreign scholars with cultural adaptation, regional fieldwork placements, and administrative formalities. A distinctive characteristic setting this institution apart is its foundational philosophy as India’s first rural university, deliberately established in a remote pilgrimage town to align higher education directly with rural upliftment and Gandhian principles.
