About

Located in São Paulo, Brazil, the Universidade de São Paulo is widely recognized as Latin America's premier research institution, boasting exceptional academic strength across fields ranging from tropical medicine and agricultural sciences to engineering and the humanities. As a major public university, it conducts a vast majority of Brazil's scientific research and offers numerous undergraduate and graduate degrees conducted in Portuguese, making strong language preparation essential for degree-seeking international students. The institution hosts thousands of international scholars through a robust central cooperation office, which facilitates global exchange agreements, short-term research placements, and Portuguese-as-a-second-language courses. What truly sets the university apart is its sprawling, park-like main campus (Cidade Universitária), which functions almost like an independent city complete with museums, theaters, and elite research facilities deeply integrated into Brazil’s economic capital.
