Founded by Saint Katharine Drexel, Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans is the nation’s only Catholic Historically Black University (HBCU) and is celebrated nationally as a top producer of African American graduates who go on to complete medical school. The university’s academic strengths center heavily on the sciences and healthcare, highlighted by powerhouse pre-med tracks in biology and chemistry alongside its prestigious College of Pharmacy.
