About

As Maine’s flagship public research institution, the University of Maine is nationally recognized for its top-tier programs in marine sciences, forestry, and engineering, highlighted by groundbreaking research at the Advanced Structures and Composites Center. The university distinctly sets itself apart through pioneering innovations in large-scale bio-based 3D printing and an expansive 660-acre campus that features direct access to the Stillwater River and over 15 miles of running and cross-country ski trails. Campus life blends a rugged, outdoor-oriented lifestyle with a close-knit New England community feel and intense school spirit, particularly around Division I Black Bear ice hockey games at Alfond Arena.
