About

Perched on a scenic hilltop just outside Boston, Tufts University is celebrated for combining the close-knit, collaborative atmosphere of a liberal arts college with the high-impact resources of a major research institution. Undergraduates excel across the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering, with standout programs in international relations, biomedical sciences, and interdisciplinary fine arts through the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA). Campus culture is defined by an intellectually curious, globally minded student body that balances rigorous scholarship with a friendly, unpretentious community spirit. Setting the university apart is the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life, which distinctively integrates public service and active citizenship directly into every academic discipline.

Wikipedia:Tufts University is a private research university in Medford and Somerville, Massachusetts, United States, with additional facilities in Boston and Grafton, as well as Talloires, France. It was founded in 1852 as Tufts College by Christian universalists who sought to provide a nonsectarian institution of higher learning. For much of the 20th century, Jackson College for Women was the coordinate college of Tufts. Tufts remained a small liberal arts college until the 1970s, when it became a larger research university offering doctorates in several disciplines. The corporate name of the university is "Trustees of Tufts College".
