About

Located on the Flathead Indian Reservation at the base of the Mission Mountains, Salish Kootenai College (SKC) is a premier tribally controlled institution renowned for its robust programs in forestry, natural resources management, nursing, and Indigenous education. Campus culture is deeply community-oriented and grounded in Salish, Pend d'Oreille, and Kootenai heritage, creating an intimate, supportive learning environment centered on cultural preservation and ecological stewardship. SKC distinguishes itself by integrating traditional tribal knowledge directly into modern bachelor’s and master’s curricula, offering students rare, field-based learning opportunities on tribal lands while remaining accessible to both Native and non-Native learners.
