Founded in 1897, Langston University is Oklahoma’s only Historically Black College and University (HBCU), offering a tight-knit, heritage-rich community rooted in its land-grant mission. The university is best known for standout academic programs in nursing, education, business, and agricultural sciences, notably housing the internationally recognized E (Kika) de la Garza American Institute for Goat Research. Student life is steeped in vibrant HBCU traditions, energized by active Divine Nine Greek organizations, spirited homecoming celebrations, and the renowned "Marching Pride" band. With satellite centers in Tulsa and Oklahoma City complementing its historic rural main campus, Langston pairs personalized, affordable instruction with a strong focus on leadership and community service.


Wikipedia:Langston University (LU) is a public, land-grant, historically black university (HBCU) in Langston, Oklahoma. It is the only historically black college in the state and the westernmost four-year public HBCU in the United States. The main campus in Langston is a rural setting 10 miles (16 km) east of Guthrie. The university also serves an urban mission with centers in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The university is a member school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. In March 2025, Langston University was named a Carnegie Research College and University.
