Located in the scenic Cumberland Gap region where Tennessee, Kentucky, and Virginia meet, Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) is a private institution founded at the personal request of Abraham Lincoln to expand educational access in Appalachia. The university is best known for its rapidly growing health sciences and professional divisions, including the DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Duncan School of Law, and strong undergraduate nursing and pre-health pathways. Campus life fosters a close-knit, service-driven environment where students can compete in NCAA Division II Railsplitter athletics and explore the surrounding mountains. A defining feature of LMU is its deep historical connection to its namesake, prominently showcased through the world-class Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum located directly on campus.
