Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University
Telangana, India
About
Located in Hyderabad, India, Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University is best known for its dedicated focus on preserving, promoting, and advancing the Telugu language, literature, culture, traditions, and fine arts. Its strongest academic programs and faculties are centered in language studies, folk arts, music, dance, journalism, and Telugu literature, offering specialized undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees. While the primary medium of instruction is Telugu, which requires prospective international students to have adequate proficiency in the language, the institution attracts global scholars and researchers interested in South Indian cultural heritage and linguistic studies. The university features specialized departments and research centres designed to support cultural immersion and academic inquiry, though it operates with a more traditional administrative structure rather than a large Western-style international student office. A distinctive characteristic setting it apart is its unique status as one of the few universities in the world established specifically for the comprehensive academic study and cultural preservation of a single regional Indian language and its rich artistic traditions.
