Located in Debrecen, Hungary, the Reformed Theological Academy of Debrecen is a historic theological institution deeply rooted in the Reformed tradition, renowned for its strong academic focus on theology, pastoral training, and religious education. The academy offers specialized degree programs in theology and ministry, preparing students for church leadership and academic research within a historic European setting. While the primary language of instruction is Hungarian, international students are welcomed through Erasmus mobility programs and specific international cooperation agreements that allow for individualized study plans and research opportunities. The International Office assists incoming students with admissions, academic advising, and integration into the academic community. A distinctive characteristic of the academy is its centuries-long heritage tied to the intellectual and spiritual history of the Hungarian Reformed Church, offering students a unique immersion into Central European Protestant scholarship.
The Debrecen Reformed Theological University (Hungarian: Debreceni Református Hittudományi Egyetem), in English translation also known as Debrecen University of Reformed Theology (but the first form is the official English name) is the successor of the Debrecen Reformed College (founded in 1538). The University is one of the Hungarian centers for Protestant theological training, with a major interest in training ministers for the Reformed Church in Hungary. In September 2011, the Ferenc Kölcsey Teacher Training College of the Reformed Church was integrated into the University.
